Account Director: Corporate & Reputation

FleishmanHillard South Africa is seeking an Account Director to work in our Corporate & Reputation Portfolio. This position provides an individual with strong interpersonal skills, the opportunity to serve as a key contributor to the success of FleishmanHillard.

We require creative thinkers who think differently about client’s challenges, actively looking for opportunities to bring fresh & creative thinking to clients on a regular basis. Strong written and verbal communication skills, along with strategic content development skills are essential. Furthermore, the ability to develop ongoing relationships with key stakeholders and influencers at a senior level are critical for the role.

In this role we will look to you to effectively manage both your team and your clients. We expect you to keep abreast of industry issues for emerging trends and best practices, educating not only your own team but also the wider FleishmanHillard team on your area of expertise.

FleishmanHillard prides itself on providing an integrated approach to all client work, therefore a good understanding of the social and digital landscape is an important asset. In addition, you will need to have a passion for the media and enjoy working in a fast paced, deadline-driven and challenging environment.

Skills

  • Able to demonstrate knowledge of financial, professional or technology services & relevant competitor landscape
  • Possess and demonstrate advanced communications and presentation skills: ability to write winning and creative proposals, programmes, plans and other strategic documentation
  • Understand crisis response protocol and act as first-stage crisis response
  • Contributes to the wider business development plans of the agency and is able to show a track record of participating in new business successes and cross-sell opportunities
  • Coaches, empowers and motivates colleagues to achieve their performance objectives.
  • Demonstrate high-level ability to think creatively and to plan strategically
  • Demonstrate high-level influencing and communication skills; proven ability to construct a strong, logical argument
  • Proactively builds relationships with key opinion leaders, professional associations & other relevant third parties
  • Understands complex businesses and their issues
  • Demonstrate first-class presentation skills – proficient and convincing
  • Self-motivated and disciplined: self -starter approach required

Qualifications and requirements

  • Financial, professional or technology services experience is essential
  • Relevant tertiary (degree) qualification
  • At least seven years’ agency or in house experience
  • Works to quality standards; sets high standards across teams, has an eye for accuracy and detail
  • Maintains high profile, high-level counsel to client
  • Provides high-level media relations strategy and counsel
  • Own transport is essential
  • Ability and willingness to work overtime as required
  • Ability to travel locally and internationally as required
